Greetings!

Hello everyone. I joined the Novel Racers a few months ago, but only just realised this blog was up this week, so I thought I'd post an introduction.

Hmmm.. now, what to say.... I should have thought this through more.

My whole writing career (if you can call it that!) started when I had glandular fever many years ago. I was confined to bed with nothing much to do except feel ill and read books. I started with Feist's 'Magician' and was instantly hooked on fantasy. Later I had a dream about a fantasy story idea, and have been developing it into a book ever since. In the last few years I've started to consider a writing career more than just a hobby and I'm slowly slogging away at it. Last November, (during Nanowrimo) I wrote a book called Fleeting Life. It is just a first draft and needs a whole new character added and some other tweaks, but I'm hoping to have it completed by Chistmas this year.

I stupidly bet my husband that I could have three books completed by the end of this year. Those three are going to be 'Fleeting Life', the first book of a fantasy trilogy, and a collection of fairy tales. At the moment all I've got to show for it is that very rough first draft of Fleeting Life, and two fairy tales... and time is ticking away. November is fast approaching though, and I plan to treat October, November and December as though its 'Nanowrimo'. Hopefully its not too late to keep my word!
My little blog 'Quilling Time' is where I keep my progress updated (as well as any other random thoughts that possess me). Hopefully I'll soon be able to report that I've seen a book through to completion and can start to send it out... but we'll see, I guess.
Nice to meet you all, and I'm so pleased to be in such good company.

Write on!

Hi Kate! Welcome to the race!

Don't kill yourself trying to win that bet. Let the writing come, and just do the best that you can do. Good luck, though. =oD

I'd endorse b.e. on that. Don't let your deadline be your dead line. On the other hand, if the inspirations is there...

Welcome to novel racers.
