Hello, I'm Leigh...

Thanks for letting me in!

I've just started writing novel no.2 and am hoping that this race will see me through the doldrums. Novel no.1 (written in 2006) has been rejected five times (so far), and I am currently repairing all the mistakes that I am determined not to make in no. 2.

I have been writing seriously for nearly two years. My brain constantly bubbles with ideas, and I now have so many short stories and novels planned that (at the current rate of output) I am not going to live long enough to get them all written.

So, for me, becoming a novel racer has forced me to make a commitment, and to remind me when I am procrastinating (at which I am much better than writing), that I have a race to win or lose, and that, let's face it, YouTube/Amazon/Blogger will be there tomorrow.

I'm also mother to three small children, wife to a grumpy old man, and Goddess to my house, which is a shrine to little piles of junk everywhere.

Ah, little piles of junk - sounds familiar! Welcome. I'm a recent arrival too and have found our fellow racers to be very supportive :)

Hi Leigh, Welcome - ah yes those pesky little piles - ours are currently breeding on the stairs!! The house would look bare without them! Good luck with the racing!

Hello Leigh, welcome and good luck with the race, and I shouldn't worry, piles of papers for us lot are practically compulsory!

Hello Leigh, welcome to the Novel Racers. Your house sounds strangely like mine, well the grumpy old man and junk part.

Another collector of small piles of junk. mYou know they'll come in useful one day.

Welcome, welcome!

Actually, I believe junk pile collecting is one of the requirements of membership. You can look it up when you get your copy of the by-laws.

Leigh, have you ever done the same to your computer/laptop? It's frightening what I daren't get rid of...I've got files of scrap everywhere! Or should I remove the s? x
