Okay, the poll is now closed and the date for the second official Novel Racers Meet has been set for London.
Saturday 12th July 2008
Now it's time to decide where we meet.
Anyone got any suggestions?
When it comes to making a final decision we'll switch this discussion to the Novel Racers Meet private blog and anyone who is coming to the meet and not yet a member of the private blog will be added.
Does that suit everyone?
I'm not used to doing admin stuff! lol!

Whoo hoo that means we can come :-)
Please can I be added to the 'meet blog' too? Thank you.
Really looking forward to meeting those I haven't yet, and seeing those again I have.
Oooh...I am so excited, I'll be there! Tell me the secret password and book me in for the ritual initiation ceremony to join the meet blog please, somebody! Is there a funny handshake to learn?
So...where to meet. Where are most people coming in to London from? (bad grammar, you know what I mean.) If there's lots of people coming in to Kings Cross/Euston, then maybe somewhere in Islington. Or the West End? I don't mind. As long as there's a big table, some comfy seats, a bar and a bloody good lunch, I'll go anywhere. She said, vaguely....
oooh all excited! I shall be arriving at Euston so if others are meeting there I think it would be good to co-oridnate arrival times and we could meet there and then travel en masse so no one feels lost in the big smoke!
ps dk and lucy i am about to send invites to post on the meet blog.
not sure if i sent to correct email though lucy. used one on your website not one on blog that i could see.
I'm coming too but I am catching the coach that drops me off in Victoria. Can anyone meet me from there? I'm going to get a taxi there and back from the rendezvous so if someone could, they could share my taxi, by that I mean I will pay there and back not share fares. I just don't wante to walk in to the place on my own if I can help it and am still a little afraid of London on my own.
It would be so nice to be met but I'm aware it is about four miles from Euston, which I reckon will be every one else's meeting point. xx
A Writer, Clare's been to a blog meet in London before - can we ask her for a suggested venue?
JJx
I'm in!!!! Please add me. Don't know yet weather I am driving up from Cornwall or taking the train - probably the laterso i will be coming into Paddington.
Or, Rowan said she could find a venue ...
Hi. I'm thinking Toronto would be a great place to meet. No? Oh well, it was worth a try. I'll be with all of you in spirit:)
I'll be there bump and all. I will be coming into Euston too, but I am happy to go anywhere.
We've had a few BloggersWithBookDeals in London and I think they've all been at the same place (I was too ill to attend the last one, so didn't pay much attention): Waterstone's, in Piccadilly. They have a big restaurant / cafe / bar on the 5th floor. You can reserve a big long table, and the food's pretty good (and they have cake, which is essential IMHO), and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere and it's in a bookshop! And it's central, so not too hard to get to (you can walk from Euston - it's a longish walk, but nice if you're feeling touristy, or you can tube it). It's the Circus end of Piccadilly.
Helen and Liz invites sent to the Meet blog. Anyone else I missed that needs to be added? (I think I am doing the invites correctly!!)
I really hope I can make it that day, too.
Waterstone's is lovely, I agree with Clare, although some of the bar staff are amongst the rudest in the universe.
Another lovely place on a sunny day is the South Bank - lots of bars and restaurants - the Royal Festival Hall is a fun venue, there's the second-hand book market, and also Tate Modern, Hayward etc if anyone's feeling cultural. On one Tube Line from Euston, too.
Got my invite, thanks Sarah!
Sarah could you fire an invite my way please?
All done Lane.
Thanks Sarah - got it! Looking forward to meeting everyone:-)
Oh yes, could I join the meet blog as well please?
hi all, I think central London is the best location - waterstones is a good idea except that I know some people(NOT ME) do enjoy a gin and tonic or perhaps a light ale of an afternoon. (Like I say NOT ME, obviously) but perhaps a place where they have, let's say, a license to sell alcohol? There's quite a nice, quite a quiet place on Charing Cross Rd that might do...if that fails we can go over to The Coach and Horses and pay homage to Jeffery Bernard. (I think he liked to drink, unlike me)
Pleeeaaaase can I be invited too???
Count me in too please.
I could put up with alcohol, should any be available ;oP
That all sounds okay! Either Waterstones or a place with alcohol sounds good to me. I'll go wherever!
Well done Sarah with all the invites!
Captain and B invites sent earlier today. Kate what is your email address? Is it on your blog? Will have another look see if I can find it.
Ooops, was checking the wrong email account *blushes* am all signed up now!
I don't mind - anywhere central. I'll be coming into Paddington! Sounds great.
Yippee! I live in West London so will be coming into Paddington but anywhere is good for me. Was going to mention the Southbank as there's alot going on down there and it's fab if we're lucky with the weather that day. Alternatively perhaps we could do lunch at Waterstones and then retire for drinks elsewhere if the mood takes us?
Please send me an invite for the meet blog.
Can't wait to meet you all!!
There is a bar at the Waterstones in Piccadilly, although I was so nervous about meeting the BWBD-ers I didn't touch a drop last time.
Can you let me have your email address so I can send you invite. Ta!
devinecc@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks!
Ooh, how exciting! Will write the date into my diary forthwith!
Happy to meet anywhere so long as they serve wine :0)
Invite sent CC
Yes, Waterstone's bar does the most divine cocktails. I think we'd have to reserve a table as Clare did I believe when we met in another group.
