Short Story Competition

Just taking an extremely short break from my blogging holiday to let you know about a competition I saw on Julie Cohen's website. Little Black Dress, Galaxy chocolate, and Company magazine are all joining together to create a short story competition. If you win your story could be printed in a Little Black Dress book. Anyway, all details are in September's Company magazine.

Thanks for sharing Helen. This sounds like the best short story competition EVER. Not sure what I'm more excited about, the prospect of being published or the free chocolate!! Will pick up my copy tomorrow :)

Thanks for that Helen. I've got a story that's too racy for a womag and too...well...chicklit for anywhere else. Hopefully it'll be a good fit!

Thanks for letting us know. I shall have to start thinking/writing and at least now have an excuse to go out and buy more magazines.

Sounds great, Helen. I've been recently looking at short stories again, just to get my mind active once more, after the school holidays have come to an end (8th Sept).

Thanks,
CJ xx

Hi guys - it was winning the short story competition in Company Magazine that got me my first book deal - so it is well worth entering!! My top tip is don't go for the obvious, give your story a bit of edge and quirkiness. My winning story was about a world where women longed to be overweight and single and the lead character found it really hard to put on weight and shake off her her boyfriend (sounds a bit odd now....!!!) Good luck every one Rx
