The Race 2009 - The Starting Line is Drawn

Well, first apologies for the delay .....teenagers hogging puters, blogger trouble and wisdom tooth issues have delayed this post - huge apologies.

Right we will be moving DK Leather and B off the wait list and onto active duty so to speak. I just want to remind all wait-listers - there are only two things that separate you from 'the racers' - one you can't host a coffee and two can't officially race. However you can come to each coffee and tell us all about your progress on whatever project you are on - which will be the same status as those who have moved to sabbatical mode.

Now although we have heard from all racers a few still haven't chosen their categories - you know who you are - take the plunge and commit!

Here's the line up for this year's race:

New Work

KayJay
CC Devine
Sprial Skies
Juliette M
Rowan Colman
ChrisH
Caroline
Kate H

Complete Rewrite

K. Imaginelli
Un Peu Loufogue
Leigh
Wordtryst
L-Plate Author

Complete a Previously Started Work

Hestiatnat Scribe
Cathy

KevinK

Please read carefully and let me know if I have pout you in the wrong race!!!!

Now I slope back off to nurse my aching jaw (tooth this in situ as too inflamed to remove!) and feel guilt that my Christmas cards have still not been sent!

P.S. DK and B can you email me so that I can add you officially!

I've updated the side-bar accordingly - CB

Welcome aboard B and DK, please try not to overtake me too quickly.

I hope your toothache gets better soon, Liz.

Good work Liz!

Mine's wrong unfortunately. I should be in the 'New Work' group. I've written 4,000 words but they need re-jigging after Christmas so effectively I'l' be starting afresh!

Thanks Liz. I'm rewriting one, and hopefully finishing a book that I started a couple of months ago.

Hope the toothache subsides very soon x

CB - loved the updates sidebar!!!!

JJ am on big purple anti things and big pink pain things and still can only open my jar a little - great for the diet though!

Can I be a complete pain in the you-know-what and ask to be moved to the 'New Work' Category???

I would be very grateful! Thank you!

Go on, then. Put me in the 'New Work' category. I don't think I stand much chance of completing, but it's always worth having something to aim for. And you never know. Inspiration might just strike.

Whoo hoo!

Thank you, I'm really pleased. Hopefully this will give me the incentive I need to finally get cracking at long last. I really ought to write a book on procrastination... one of these days (boom boom).

Meanwhile please can I be added to the lists for both new work and complete a previously started work?

Thank you again and hello everyone.

Welcome DK and B :)

Is it relevant that I completed my 2008 'complete first draft' race by 31st october? I dont know if that needs updating in the sidebar.

Ta muchly :) and I am in the right race for 2009, thank you.

Is that me in the 'Complete rewrite' list, or is that another Clare?!

Well anyway, I suppose as I'm about to start a second draft of Novel III then that's one way of describing it... but to be honest I think "complete a previously started work" would be more accurate. I'm not planning a complete rewrite, just editing and polishing. I want to have it publishable by mid March. And then I'm starting a brand new novel, so as far as 2009 is concerned I also need to be in the 'new work' category.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the clarification Liz. I wasn't sure what I was, or wasn't, supposed to do as a 'wait-lister'. My sympathies on your aching tooth. Hope it is better now. Happy New Year.
