Following on from Lily's post below, it's my turn to introduce myself. I'm Tam. You might have seen me around - I was the one with her nose squashed flat against the Novel Racer's window, peering greedily inside. And now I'm in, I have to say it seems as lovely as I dreamed it would be. Thanks for letting me in.
So, a little about me: I started writing properly (that's to say, stopped dabbling with stories and never finishing them) in January 2008 after I read Jane Wenham-Jones' Wannabe A Writer book. She inspired me to try something I hadn't written since my school days; a short story. In line with Jane's advice, I subbed it to Take A Break. It came back a month later, which seemed like an eternity but I soon learned was not a good sign. In May 2008, I sold my first short story, to My Weekly. Then I had an idea for a teen book and wrote that. It got me an agent, who got me a publisher. The teen book, My So-Called Afterlife, is out in February 2010. I also have a children's book coming out next June. My struggle, if you can call it such, is to get the next book in the children's book series written by December this year and the sequel to the teen book in the bag. That's where the Novel Racers come in, because I've got a touch of Lazybonesitis and need a push (ie kick up the arse) to get it done.
So, to paraphrase a certain Eighties TV show; If you've got a problem and no-one else can help, if you can find them, maybe you can hire....The Novel Racers (da da da dun dun, dun dun dun!)

Thanks for all the lovely welcomes. Of course, what I didn't mention was that I've had plenty of rejections along the way, too!

You've done so well, Tam. Welcome to the Novel Racers.
Hello Tam and welcome aboard. I like the A-Team analogy. Can I be Hannibal ('cause I love it when a plan comes together)? Perhaps we can all get together and construct a new novel using an old car, a dustbin lid and some welding equipment that was left lying around...
It's good that another proper published author has joined the ranks. Perhaps you can share some of your tips?
Welcome Tam! I used to love the A-team :o)
