Roll Call 2010

Well 2010 has begun and hopefully we are all busy writing. We know Cathy has been busy because she is the first winner of 2010! Well done. This reminded me that we haven't stated our intentions for this year.

So Racers what are your 2010 goals? Where are you at the moment? Are there any topics you'd like to talk about, but are too afraid to ask or post yourself? Would you like to hear from any of our Alums and find out how they are doing? Anything else that you'd like from the racers?

I know 2009 was a successful writing year for the Racers and a really tough year on other counts for many - so my wish is that our writing triumphs go from strength to strength, we continue to be the wonderful support to each other that we are and all of us have happy, healthy, and productive 2010.

Let's make 2010 the best yet!

Hmm. You know what? I think I'm going to dust off my fingers and get cracking again this year. Am I allowed back out from Sabbatical?? :D

My aims are the same as ever -- two new first drafts, one edit and strive for publication as ever.

Most of last year was spent editing, apart from November when I wrote the first - very dirty - draft of my YA novel for NaNo.

This year I'm working on a new novel. I've literally only done 1,200 words and apart from finishing that, I intend practicing my short story writing and hopefully getting something published.

This year my first goal is to get novel one polished and out there. I'd also like to start novel two which is a sequel to novel one.

I will also continue to write articles and short stories and hopefully get some published.

This year my goal is to really enjoy writing and worry less. Oh and o blog more than just annually.

Now that I've finally got around to joining Novel Racers (hello everyone, waves) I intend to work a lot harder than last year, and get my novel in a fit state to be sent out to agents. I have a first draft but it needs a lot of work.

May aim for this year is to start and finish the rewrite of my novel which I finally finished writing last year. And before this year is out I want to have subbed it.

Publication is always at the top of my list (how long has it been there now?!) but goals for this year - I want to finish the second half of book three and also do the second draft of it by the end of 2010. I'm also going to draft out the first book in a new series.

I'll just keep on keeping on, I suppose. Good luck everyone x

Now I have an agent, my aim is to be published this year! I'm also going to crack on and finish novel 2 and send out some short stories in between :o)

Good luck everyone!

My aims? Get agent and publisher for Undercurrents and ditto the next one. Oh, and get commissions from the nationals. Nothing like aiming high! But I think most of all, as Rowan said, not to panic too much, and ENJOY IT, whatever comes along and not push myself too hard.

I have decided to go back to work this year. By that I mean writing features and pitching ideas and making it my job and career. I have almost finished my London School of Journalism course (so close I can taste it) so now is definitely the time.

The book I will write in my 'spare' time. And in 2010 I will finish it and edit it. I would like it ready to be sent out to agents within the next ten months or so.

I definitely mean business this year ;)

Oh lordy... my aims?

Uhm, knock this first draft into shape?

I refuse to be in a hurry. I feel the panic in the air but I can't see any point in my sending it out not ready. I am not in a rush; I am not in a rush.

Anyway, good luck to everyone.

I'm waiting to hear back from an agent who requested the full MS of Novel 1 - it's quite nerve racking! So, once I know either way from her, I'll be sorting out my aims! :-)

I'm also currently cracking on with Novel 2 and submitting short stories.

Good Luck for 2010 ALL!

Eek, full rewrite and polish on the draft I finished last year... I really need to get going on it!

Sorry to be late, again. Good to hear what everyone's planning, it promises to be another exciting year. Put me down for not panicking too.. I'm delighted to have found a publisher at last but I'm now fretting about the next bit - will the book sell? Sheesh! Mustn't think about it too much as it's putting me off novel#2. I'm also in the second year of the OU Diploma and feel a bit snowed under with that. One step at a time, Chris, one step at a time!

My plans are to get a job. After that, I might think about entertaining the possibility that I might consider writing again.

1) publication
2) keep all the other balls in air
... can't think beyond that at the moment :)

My aims are to get novel 1 edited and try to find an agent. In the meantime I am also starting to think about novel 2.

My aims for this year are to complete the second draft of my first novel and start the first draft of my second novel. So far procrastination is winning over both but I am ever hopeful that I will get going again soon.
