Friday Coffee – Progress reports

Morning Racers!! Or it was when I wrote this!! I couldn’t get on blogger this morning so apologies for the delay. I’m feeling spirited this morning, perhaps it’s the weather, perhaps it’s the promise of the weekend fast approaching, perhaps it’s the coffee – who knows but its good.
Help yourselves to fresh fruit salad and orange juice. There’s coffee brewing and the aroma is delightful so please join me in a cuppa.

Its almost half way through the year (I know where has it gone??) and the novel isn’t really coming along at all. I had given myself until this month to finish the reread/rewrite/repair but it’s just not happening. I blame Mandy and the gang at Womag2Weekly (of course not they are all lovely). I'm just very much enjoying churching out short stories and last week I was lucky enough to sell my first story which has spurred me on that bit more. I’m also booked to go on another How to Get Published seminar tomorrow, and then there’s the all important keeping fit, socialising, sleeping, eating, drinking, breathing, shopping, day jobbing.  I plan to do some novel editing this weekend though.

So, tell me, how’s your WIP coming along? As expected or have you managed to let the procrastination/distraction gremlins knock you off kilter?

Hope you have fun tomorrow.

I have about 30k words still to do for my wip. I need to get a move on with it too, if I'm going to send it off to the RNA NWS in July/Aug.

I've stalled on the one I started in February. I've writted a script and multiple short stories but can't get the novel to budge.

Still, I got the cover art for the one coming out in July yesterday, so hurrah for that.

Having a deadline is the only thing that really stops me procrastinating! Oh and writing/editing in a cafe, where I can't get the Internet!

Debs - thanks it was great although very similar to the one I'd been to before. Good luck with the wip

Leatherdyke - i think we are in the same boat but important thing as we are still writing. Good news on the cover art - something I always seem to imagine despite not even finishing the work yet.

Karen - I think the internet is both a godsend and hindrance for any writer.

I joined May - You Write Your Novel. Although I haven't quite kept up with 1000 words per day, I've definitely written more than I would have without it. ~Miriam

Congratulations on selling your first story.

Talking of "how to get published", I'll be going to a talk on this subject by Nicola Morgan on June 2nd. I wonder if I'll bump into any of you there.

A summary of my writing projects can be found here, though I haven't updated the page for a while. I'm mainly writing short stories at the moment, so the bigger projects are on hold while I go back to basics and practise my craft.

Hope the seminar was good.

I'm editing at the moment, which makes it far easy for me to procrastinate because there's no word count to monitor! I keep saying I'll start editing a certain number of words at a time, so I keep going, but haven't actually done it yet...

We've had builders in and, having had to clear out the study, we're decorating. So it's all on the back burner, although I have been working on all sorts of other stuff, so not unduly bothered as I know when it comes to the boil, I'll be ready with a big wooden spoon to stir like billy-o.
