Free Critique from Agent

One of the lovely Novel Racers mentioned a First Paragraph Challenge as an alternative to a whole page and now I see that Nathan Bransford - www.nathanbransford.blogspot.com has offered a free critique of a sample of the winner's work. This has been good practise for me - I do need a stick or a carrot to make me work.
I have played around with my first paragraph and stuck it up there. It looks a little lonely amongst more able work but never mind. The deadline is, I think, Wed so if you fancy a go, the address is below and if any of you could let me know how you think my edited para compares to the first one I put up, I'd be very grateful.
