Just to let you know...

...I have finished my first draft today!

I have been writing this novel, on and off, for four years, so it is the end of a marathon (even though the manuscript currently stands at fractionally under my planned 80,000 words).

The hard work starts now.

Wonderful. It's so hard to finish that first draft. Have a drink or a coffee, new lipstick, Twix...

Well done I know how great it feels even though you know that the hard work is only just beginning. But take a while to savour the moment.

Superb!!!!Give yourself a big pat on the back - glass of wine and a bit of a rest before you begin the hardwork!

Woo hoo! Well done Cathy, am so chuffed for you. Now you have something to mould. I absolutely love doing the second draft, for me it is my favourite part.

Great achievement! Yes, you thoroughly deserve to treat yourself...x

Well done! One author told me a first draft should always be celebrated with a bottle of champagne. I always like to take advice!

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm feeling elation and relief right now. I'm not too worried about the edits as I have been editing section by section as I wrote it anyway. There are structural issues to sort out though and more work to be done on the first half.

Shame we haven't got any champagne here but I'm off to get a glass of wine now :)
